The Thesaurus Linguae Maximi Confessoris (TLMC) is an online reference work to the Greek texts of the Saint. In fact it is a general index of the word forms in his most popular writings. Its specifics compared to other working tools is that it provides a synoptic view of the word usage with exhaustive references to the modern editions. The texts themselves are not on the site.
The Thesaurus is a result of cooperation within the St. Maximus the Confessor’s International Theological-Scientific Centre based in Tbilisi (Georgia). In the work on it were engaged professors and students from three theological institutions: Saint Tikhon's Orthodox University of the Humanities (STOUH, Moscow, Russia), the Moscow Theological Academy (MTA, Sergiev Posad, Russia) and the Center for Advanced Studies of Patristic and Byzantine Spiritual Legacy (CASPBSL, Sofia University, Bulgaria). Students from STOUH and MTA under the guidance of Natalia Golovnina and Pavel Dobrocvetov have prepared the Greek texts for indexing. They got the most useful practice of entering texts, comparing different editions and commenting on the diverging editorial solutions. Drawing the student’s attention to the works of St. Maximus and their circulation in student milieu is among the main aims of the project. The idea of the Thesaurus was given by Ivan Christov from CASPBSL who coordinated the work on it and finally compiled the general word forms index. Fr. Sava (Kokoudev) from the same Centre has developed the web site.
